Nora joined the Kingston City School District’s Board of Education because she felt she could make a positive impact. In 2010, she retired from a 38-year career teaching in the Kingston City School District serving at Miller Middle School, Edson and Meagher Elementary Schools and finally at Kingston High School from 1988 to her retirement in 2010. As a faculty member, Nora served on the Audit of the Curriculum Committee; RTI (Response to Intervention) Committee; Jefferson Committee; KHS – Building Leadership Team (twice as facilitator); Attendance Committee; Homework Policy Committee and many more.
"If I could achieve any one educational accomplishment while serving as a Board of Education member it would be to ensure that students in Kingston City Schools receive not only excellent instruction but equity of access to opportunities in a culture that promotes respect for all," said Mrs. Scherer. "Ultimately, we need to increase the percentage of students who graduate from Kingston City Schools well- prepared to pursue post-secondary education, service to their country or employment."
Current Board committee involvements include the Steering Committee for the KHS Second Century Project, District-Wide Safety Committee and serving as the Chair of the Facilities Committee.
