Students Test Their Spelling Mettle in District Spelling Bee
C-O-N-G-R-A-T-U-L-A-T-I-O-N-S to all participants in this year’s KCSD Spelling Bee, held on Wednesday, January 11 in the M. Clifford Miller Middle School Auditorium! This Bee is the culmination of individual school spelling competitions for Grades 4-8, and includes the top two finalists from each elementary school and the top four from each middle school. Out of these 22 students, Justin Allen, a Grade 7 student at J. Watson Bailey achieved the top prize, clinching the title with his correct spelling of “Southern.”
The winner and top four finalists will compete in the Capital Region Spelling Bee, which will be held virtually on March 15.
Along with Justin, these students will represent KCSD as finalists: Clara Kaposhilin (Grade 7, J. Watson Bailey), Victor Volpert (Grade 4, E.R. Crosby), Jackson Sanchez (Grade 4, Harry L. Edson), Althea Jayne (Grade 4, John F. Kennedy).
