KCSD Remote Learning Update
Due to the increasing number of positive cases in our region and the number of students and staff who remain on quarantine, the Kingston City School District will continue with our Remote Learning plan and schedule until after the holiday break.
As much as we want to have our students learning from inside the classroom, we need to address the impact this second wave is having on our community and our schools. This decision was made after a very careful and thoughtful review of the current conditions, trends and projections, and what is in the best interest of our students, staff, and community.
We have been extremely pleased with the cooperation of our students, faculty and staff with our health and safety protocols, and though our confirmed positives remain low, the spread in the community has impacted every aspect of our operation. The number of faculty and staff impacted by COVID-19 and the Department of Health quarantine protocols is growing daily. We are in a position where we are not able to cover classrooms, provide adequate security or continue the effective implementation of our safety protocols.
While we understand the impact this decision will have on our students and families, we must be proactive so that we can make sure all of our schools are safe.
We will continue to use our Remote Learning schedule with the following start times:
Elementary Schools (GW PreK & K-4): 8:55am Morning Announcements
Middle Schools (Grades 5-8): 9:00am
Kingston High School (Grades 9-12): 9:45am
We will hold Meal Distribution at all Elementary Schools daily from 1:30-2:30pm, and at JW Bailey Middle School from 4:00pm-6:00pm. Delivery is available if you cannot make it to a pick-up site. Please call 845-943-3663 for more information.
Bussing will be provided for BOCES, Out-of-District and Private School students. Please communicate with your school directly if you have any questions.
KCSD plans to resume our Hybrid Learning plan and schedule on Monday, January 4, 2021 with Maroon and Gold groups in-person on their specified days, if it safe for our students and staff.
