Kate Walton Field House Converts Back to Gymnasium!
The Kate Walton Field House on the Kingston High School campus has been reverted back to a gymnasium!
In April, the Kingston City School District approved the space to be set up as a temporary hospital with beds and nurses’ stations to be used as an overflow location for step-down hospital patients. The field house could have held over 100 patients on their way to discharge. The KCSD technology team set up a communication infrastructure to connect Kingston Hospital.
Because Kingston Hospital did not get the number of patients that was originally anticipated, the temporary hospital never had to be utilized. “We were happy to help the community fill this need and assist in this time of crisis,” said KCSD Superintendent Dr. Paul J. Padalino. “The gymnasium was never used to house any patients, but the space was ready to go if it became a necessity.”
The entire field house will be cleaned and sanitized and ready for use by our students when they return.
