The Kingston City School District welcomed a new Assistant Principal to the J. Watson Bailey administrative team in December. Mr. Andrew Cameron joins KCSD with many years of experience at the elementary and middle school levels and keeps one goal at the forefront of his mind: support his students!
Mr. Cameron is a Dutchess County native from Poughkeepsie, NY. His higher education in Education spanned a few semi-local colleges where he earned his Bachelor’s degree from Mount St. Mary College, his Master’s from the New York Institute of Technology, and Administrative Leadership Certifications from SUNY New Paltz.
The AP started his career in the Newburgh City School District teaching 5th-grade at its Horizon on Hudson Elementary School. He went on to teach 4th-graders in the Haldane Central School District before moving up to become the Principal of Liberty Middle School in Sullivan County.
Bidding to be closer to home with his children, Mr. Cameron found himself applying for and accepting the position at JWB. He offers wise words to his students as he has educated and learned from many youngsters throughout his career. “Be an upstander, not a bystander, and being kind has always stood the test of time,” he advised.
His endeavors have paved the way to KCSD and the district is happy to have him on the team. Welcome, Mr. Cameron!
