State of the County Address at New Wendell A. Scherer Theatre

On Thursday, January 30, 2020 Ulster County Executive (and KHS Class of 2000 Alum!!) Patrick Ryan gave his first State of the County address in the newly renovated Wendell A. Scherer Theatre at Kingston High School.  The inaugural event held in the remodeled auditorium was attended by state and county dignitaries, city and town officials, and administration and students from county school districts.

The program, emceed by KHS Principal Vincent DeCicco, started with a dedication of flags for the new theater presented by the Ulster County Sherriff’s Color Guard and Ulster County Sherriff’s Cadets.  The American Flag was donated by the American Legion Post 150 and the NY State and Ulster County Flags were donated by County Executive, Pat Ryan.

The Executive spoke mostly to the high school students, telling them they are the key to the future of the county.  He has held Town Hall meetings with students from all over the county so they can be heard and given a voice.

Initiatives for Ulster County include the environment, economic development and service to community.
