KALP Students Meet Foursquare Co-Founder on Skype

KALP students chat with Dennis Crowley Educators are always finding innovative ways to keep lessons exciting. Skype calls with fascinating people on the other end of the screen is one way KCSD teachers and instructional coaches have brought lessons to life.

On May 9, 2019, KALP (Kingston Accelerated Learning Program) students enjoyed a Skype call with Dennis Crowley, the Co-founder and Executive Chairman of Foursquare, while at Kingston High School for their monthly meeting. KCSD Instructional Coach Michael Circe set up the call for students to tie-in what they have been learning about geolocation technology and a recent reading of “Lion: A Long Way Home,” by Saroo Brierley. Students asked the entrepreneur a number of questions about his business and location technology while he was in his New York City office. Later that afternoon, Mr. Crowley tweeted about his encounter with these amazing fourth-graders!

Thank you, Mr. Crowley and Mr. Circe for a great experience!
