KHS Chamber Orchestra Quartet Heads to Regional Concert

One of the KHS Chamber Orchestra Quartets will be performing at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center Regional Concert this Thursday, February 7, at the Purchase College Performing Arts Center. This is the inaugural concert for Westchester, Hudson Valley, and Connecticut area high schools as the CMS Young Musicians Program recently added this region for its 36th season.

The quartet, Sarah Lekaj (Violin I), Lila Freeman (Violin II), Faye Higgins (Cello), and Julia Safron (Viola), met with a Chamber Music Society Violinist, Ms. Kristin Lee, for a coaching session at the Purchase College Conservatory on January 27th. Their concert performance this week will be professionally produced by CMS.

Ensembles from the Regional Concert are eligible for an invitation to the Young Musicians Concert at Alice Tully Hall at Lincoln Center that will be held in May.

“It is a great honor for our quartet to be selected for the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center's youth concert at Purchase,” said Janine Bergamini, KHS Director of Orchestras. “The quartet has been chosen amongst other select ensembles from the Westchester, Hudson Valley and Connecticut areas. This achievement is a product of the growing strength and advancement of the Kingston High School string program. I am very proud of our students and look forward to the concert at the Purchase Performing Arts Center.”
