KHS Earns NYSPHSAA School of Excellence Award

KCSD Athletic Director Rich Silverstein poses with the award for KHS being recognized as a NYSPHAA School of Excellence.

Kingston High School (KHS) has earned the New York State Public High School Athletic Association’s (NYSPHSAA) School of Excellence Award for the 2025-2026 school year. The award was presented at NYSPHSAA’s fall meeting on September 10 at the Otterkill Country Club.

The School of Excellence Award recognizes schools in which 75 percent or more of varsity teams earn Scholar-Athlete Team status. To qualify, the top 75 percent of each team’s roster must have a combined grade point average of 90 or higher.

The Kingston City School District offers 36 varsity athletic opportunities for boys and girls. This is the first time during Athletic Director Rich Silverstein’s 10-year tenure that KHS has received this academic and athletic distinction.

“Being a student-athlete requires late nights, weekends, and a tremendous commitment to both academics and athletics,” said Silverstein. “This accomplishment shows our students that their hard work, both in the classroom and in competition, is recognized and rewarded. We are incredibly proud of them.”

This recognition reflects the dedication of KHS student-athletes and the support they receive from their teachers, coaches, families, and the entire district community.

The Kingston City School District congratulates its student-athletes and varsity teams on this outstanding achievement.
