    Dear JFK Families,

It is hard to believe that we’re already in our third month of school. It has been wonderful seeing all of our JFK children transition to a new school year! Many thanks for giving your children the positive message that JFK is a safe and caring space where students come to live, learn, laugh and grow.

October was an exciting month at JFK!

Our building theme for September and October was safety. We discussed physical safety, psychological safety, moral safety and moral safety with students. Tying into our safety theme, October was Fire Safety Month. The Kingston Fire Department came to JFK on October 17th and October 18th with a Fire Safety House mobile classroom. The Fire Safety House taught children vital burn prevention and fire escape techniques. We also continued our Emergency Drills with our third Fire Drill, our second Lock Down Drill and our first Site Evacuation Drill of the year. If you have any questions about drills or safety, please reach out to me.

We had an incredibly successful Parent/Teacher Conference night. I love seeing the building filled with parents and I thank you for your continued support. In October we also had a Trunk or Treat night and celebrated Character Day! So much fun!

During the month of October, we had 148 students with perfect attendance. Please continue to prioritize daily attendance and let’s try to beat that number this month!

In November we will celebrate Veteran’s Day and have our first Potluck and Craft Night of the year. I hope to see you there! Our November PTA meeting is on November 12th at 5:30 pm.

Our theme for Quarter 2 is emotions. Over the next three months will be talking about our emotions and focusing on empathy, compassion, feelings, kindness, tolerance and self-regulation.

As we look forward to the month ahead, there are many exciting activities happening at JFK:

    · Thursday, November 7th – Early Evacuation Day, 2:55 dismissal

    · Friday, November 8th – Veteran’s Day Celebration

    · Thursday, November 14th – Potluck/Craft Night (5:30 pm)

    My door is always open!
