The Kingston City School District’s (KCSD) Performing Arts program provides a high-quality education for all students in grades K-12. Our comprehensive music program is open to students of all levels, and we offer a wide range of academic courses to help students develop their musical skills, knowledge and experience.

From kindergarten through eighth grade, students take part in classroom musical instruction. Beginning in fourth grade, interested elementary students can elect to begin small group instrumental lessons and perform in small and large ensembles. Fourth grade students are also offered an opportunity to participate in Chorus.

At the middle level, students continue to develop their musical knowledge and skill. General Music, Band, Orchestra and Chorus classes continue to build on the foundation of the elementary program. Interested students can also opt in to a variety of additional experiences like Musical Theater club, Voice Class, and Jazz Band. Through activities like these, students may take part in enriching field trips and community performances.

Kingston High School students have myriad choices to continue to build their musical knowledge. Students who want to begin or continue performing have course options that include Band, Marching Band, Jazz Ensemble, Orchestra, Chamber Orchestra, Mixed Chorus, and Choir. Elective courses like Music Appreciation, Music Technology I and II, Music Theory I and II, Piano I and II, Voice 1, 2 and 3 help beginning and advanced learners grow musically.

Our program is designed to foster lifetime musical involvement and is open to students of all skill levels. We promote a community that is diverse and values the performing arts. Whether a student has a love of singing, playing an instrument, or participating in musical productions, the opportunity is here in the KCSD Performing Arts program.
