Summer Youth Employment Program 2020-Deadline extended to May 29th 2020
SYEP offers young adults ages 14 to 20 who live in Ulster County an opportunity to have a summer job for five weeks. This year our program is operating from June 29th to August 2nd. We will have worksites and jobs all over the county and in all different kinds of industries including: cleaning, lawn and building maintenance, childcare, clerical, counselors in training, theatre, the arts, to name a few. We will be paying our young adults $12.50 per hour.
Currently our office is closed to the public. However we continue to offer our services and at this time we are still accepting SYEP applications.
On Tuesday May 26th from 9 am to 4:30 pm we will be open to assist with applications. We are allowing people to drop off SYEP applications to us and if need be, we will be available to make copies of the youth applicant’s birth certificate and social security card. Because of social distancing and being careful not to spread the coronavirus, we need people to call us at 845-340-3170. If we do not pick up, please leave us a clear message with their name and phone number and we will call them right back.
For those students that do not have a computer and/or a printer, they can call our office at 340-3170 and ask that an application be mailed to them. The completed application with a copy of the birth certificate and social security card can be mailed to: SYEP 535 Boices Lane Kingston, NY 12401.
For those students and families that may need additional supports during this time of crisis, I am attaching a link to Ulster County’s website where there is a wealth of information about getting food, medical benefits, unemployment insurance, etc:
Here is a link to our facebook page which we are updating several times a day with relevant information about COVID 19, employment services, community resources, etc:
