    JWB Choral Mission Statement

The students of the JWB Choral Program will have many opportunities to learn, grow, and perform throughout the school year. Students will become familiar with proper vocal technique, concert and performance etiquette, the use of solfege, and music content knowledge. Students will perform a diverse selection of repertoire. Students will also develop necessary life skills such as teamwork, commitment, responsibility, and focus. Chorus is not just about singing songs, it’s about how it can positively affect our lives as a whole.

  • After School Choral Activities

    All County:

Members of all choruses will be allowed to audition and be selected to participate in the UCMEA Choral Festival each year. Auditions will be held sometime in December. The All County Choral Festival is usually held on a weekend in March. Those participating in elementary chorus will only be required to attend the festival on Saturday. Those participating in junior high chorus will be required to attend both Friday night and all day Saturday. There will be required rehearsals once a week, during activity period, that will begin in January and end the week of the festival. Students are required to attend all rehearsals leading up to the festival. The All County Choral Festival is a great way for the choral students of Bailey to meet choral students from neighboring districts and create music together. Students will have to find transportation to and from the festival.

    Select Chorus:

Students in 7th, and 8th grade choruses will be eligible to audition for Select Chorus in the month of March. The students who are selected will attend the High Note Festival in Lake George, NY at the end of May/beginning of June. These students will be required to attend rehearsals once a week during activity period and will last until the week of the festival. A cost is associated with this trip.

    American Young Voices:

Students in 5th and 6th grade choruses are eligible to participate in American Young Voices. American Young Voices is an opportunity for choral students to sing in one of the largest school choir concerts in the world. A limited number of students will be selected and will be required to attend rehearsals once a week during activity period leading up to the concert in June. A small cost is associated with the trip.
