Doreen Benes Harney
Doreen Benes Harney, a 1986 graduate of Kingston High School, excelled as a talented three-sport athlete on the KHS girls’ basketball, volleyball and track and field teams. Doreen’s notable high school athletic career garnered a multitude of accomplishments and record breaking feats. In addition to being the second woman in KHS history to score over 1,000 points in her KHS basketball career, Doreen holds the current record for most career rebounds (822), most rebounds for a single season (366) and most rebounds per game in a single season (16.7). Selected for the All-State basketball team, Doreen is a two-time Daily Freeman Player of the Year, a four-time sectional medal winner for shot put and a five-time sectional medal winner for discus, a sport in which she holds the record for KHS. Not only did Doreen stand tall on the basketball court, but in the classroom as well. After maintaining a 95 average in KHS, Doreen went on to attend American University, where she continued to play basketball.
