Students in Corina Moot, Denee McGrath, and Nicole Giebelhaus' 5th Grade class used STEM skills to design and build a massive gingerbread house. Students had to figure out volume, design floor plans, understand and create different solutions for the frosting, figure out perimeters, and other important pieces to make sure their gingerbread house was as stable and sturdy as it was beautiful!

On Thursday, October 27th, faculty and staff at JWB were excited to welcome the return of the annual Staff Dodgeball Game! The dodgeball game is not only a great opportunity for students to have fun watching their teachers and school staff "let their hair down" and play a game for the students' entertainment, it serves as a way to give back to the JWB community--traditionally funds raised from the game go to support the Vincent Loughlin Scholarship Fund!
Thank you to the amazing Ms Sass, Mrs Crantz, Coach Munger, and Mrs Morrison for organizing the game! And of course, thank you to the amazing faculty and staff at JWB for providing our students a wonderful afternoon of laughter.

7th Grade students in Ms Yannucci and Mrs Harrison's Math class enjoyed some friendly competition as they practiced the concept of combining signed numbers with a card game. Strategies develop quickly as students see the results of drawing (adding) & discarding (subtracting) positive & negative valued cards.
Seeing and applying math concepts in novel ways such as this has been shown to greatly enhance student comprehension and retention.

Throughout the end of September and the beginning of October, groups of 5th graders traveled to an outdoor classroom maintained by Scenic Hudson and experienced hikes, talks about making shelters, and other outdoor activities. Our students had an amazing time and we are grateful for Wild Earth's continued commitment to our school community.
