     Networking 101

    March 20, 2019

Networking, or connecting with people who may be able to help with career exploration or point to others who may help, is a learned skill that most students need to develop. Students are frequently reluctant or don’t think to tap into their networks for assistance and guidance. In this workshop we will help students learn to identify who in the community might be a resource for them, how to approach them and follow up with the community member!

Work Based Learning @ KHS Partnerships
    April 3, 2019
This element addresses the delivery of a continuum of work-based learning involving sustained, meaningful interactions with industry or community professionals that foster in-depth, firsthand engagement with the tasks required in a given career field. Experiences may be delivered in workplaces, in the community, at educational institutions and include a range of activities such as workplace tours, job shadowing, school-based enterprises, internships and apprenticeships. Come learn about the connections we have to your community and how to assist in college and career planning for the future!

Social ambassadors can help raise brand awareness, drive website traffic, generate sales or donations, and grow brand communities. Unlocking the power of social media ambassadors is essential to creating a digital footprint. Create smart, well thought out and mature posts! Learn to brand yourself as well as a company!

  • 2019 Annual Young Adult Job Fair

We are excited to announce that the 11th Annual Young Adult Job Fair is being held on Wednesday April 3rd from 11:30 am to 5:00 pm at SUNY-Ulster’s Kingston Campus located at 94 Mary’s Ave.
The Internship & Career Center will be taking two groups of students during the afternoon, either periods 5 & 6 or periods 7 & 8. Come to Main 114 to sign up, get your permission slip or print the one below!
Young Adult Job Fair Permission Slip
The job fair is open to any young adult between the ages of 16 to 24 who are looking for a job, are interested in learning about careers in Ulster County, and/or want to learn how to interview with a business.  We will have a computer lab open and staff will be available to assist young people with resume writing and completing online applications.  Young people can also bring their resume electronically and then print out copies of it at the fair.
We are also looking to find a few responsible students who could act as Social Media Ambassadors to help us recruit the older young adults ages 18+.  We will provide a Code of Conduct and also training to any students interested in doing this.   It is our hope that the Social Media Ambassadors will be able to use their own voices to advertise our job fair on their social media platforms.
