    Edson Elementary Spring

    In-Person Picture Day:

    Friday, May 14th

    Dear Parents:

If your child attends school in-person this marking period teachers will bring the students down to our picture taking location during the school day. If your child is a 100% Remote only learner you can bring them to the school between 8:30am and 9:30am for their picture on Friday, May 14th. The location will be in the classroom (A-4) across from our Art Room on the school’s lower level. Please park in the lower lot and bring your child to the exit door at the end of the hallway (there will be a sign in the door window as well). A staff member will take their temperature and parents will need to complete a paper COVID questionnaire form for their child. Parents must wait outside and when your child’s picture is complete, they will be brought to the exit door. Paper picture order packets are located in a box at our school’s front entrance.

    Thanks, Mr. Martin

  • Expanded Hybrid Model Plans Starting April 19th

     UPDATED, Friday, March 26th

The plans for the expanded hybrid model to bring more students back to in-person learning 5 days per week are updated as follows:

All classes, grades K-4, at Edson, will be housed in their own classroom- no split classrooms are anticipated at this time

Classroom teachers will continue to work with their 100% remote learning students- there will be no shifting of students between teachers

    Important details:

Student desks will be set up in our gym, cafeteria, and a large classroom space where students will eat their lunch without their masks on, and be 6 feet apart

Students who ride to school on our big buses who eat breakfast here at school in the morning will eat in one of the larger spaces (listed above) to decrease the number of students eating in the classroom

Teachers will be provided release time during the school day to work with their 100% remote students in small group, guided instruction

Teachers will continue to livestream with 100% remote students during whole class reading, class meetings, and math instruction

Every class will have two, 30-minute sessions of pull-out P.E. instruction every week. P.E. will be outdoors every day, weather permitting

Every class will have three, 40-minute, livestream, grade level specific, Art, Vocal Music, and Library instruction, every 6-day cycle. The lessons will also be recorded for the 100% remote students to access if they are not able to participate in the livestream to their grade.

Every parent will receive a letter during the Spring Break that confirms their child’s learning status (100% remote or in-person 5 days per week) based on the on-line district survey, and follow-up phone calls made by staff this week. The letter is two-sided, one side English, and the other side Spanish.

    Have a wonderful Spring Break!

The goal of the Kingston City School District is to get as many students into our school buildings as possible, with the focus on students in younger grades.
As we prepare for Spring of 2021, the Elementary Teaching & Learning Team has been making plans to bring students back into school buildings 5-days per week.*
We also want to be sure that all families are comfortable with the education plan for their students. If you, as a parent/guardian are not yet comfortable sending your child(ren) to school for in-person instruction, you may choose to continue full remote instruction. Families who choose the Remote Learning model may have a different teacher based on the individual building plans.
At this time, we are asking all Elementary families to commit to in-person or remote learning for Quarter 4, which begins on Monday, April 19, 2021.

You will need to complete a separate form for each elementary aged student in your home.
Please make your commitment by Thursday, March 18th.
