Harry L. Edson Elementary School Welcome to the Harry L. Edson Elementary School. Our school was opened in 1966 and dedicated to the memory of Pop Edson, a well-known community figure who lovingly devoted 35 years of his life to children in our area. The Edson School is located in the city of Kingston, New York. Located in the beautiful and historic Hudson Valley, Kingston is 90 miles north of New York City and 50 miles south of Albany. Harry L. Edson Elementary is one of eleven elementary schools in the Kingston City School District. We are one of the largest elementary schools in the district, with an enrollment of approximately 500 students. When first opened, the school community consisted of students from kindergarten through sixth grade. In 1988 a district restructuring changed this, and we now provide an excellent education to students in kindergarten through fifth grade. The Edson School Mission Our Beliefs:
