M. Clifford Miller Middle School

MCM MISSION STATEMENT:

Learning is the most important reason for attending M. Clifford Miller Middle School. It takes place best in an atmosphere of responsibility, respect and pride in achievement

Welcome to the M. Clifford Miller Middle School Website!

At Miller, the administrative team works closely with over 90 teachers to ensure that the curriculum is appropriately aligned with the State’s new learning standards.

Students in grades 6 through 8 are “teamed” in order to create smaller, more intimate learning communities wherein there is cross-discipline and interdisciplinary learning.

Here, over 1,000 young learners develop the skills common to the academic disciplines (English, Science, Math, Social Studies and Reading) taught concurrently and consistently with related arts (General Art, Home and Careers, Technology, General Music, Foreign Language, Health and Physical Education).

Humanities classes and Math/Science academic classes are scheduled in parallel blocks to permit instructional practices that help young adolescents learn best.

Further, MCM has an effective student support staff to assist young adolescents based on their unique needs – headed by a guidance counselor assigned to each grade level. As a school, we are making every effort to achieve adequate yearly academic progress and have therefore provided appropriate instructional support services to address student learning.

There are also a variety of developmentally appropriate social opportunities for students here at Miller that support the academic program to include lunch recess, field trips, monthly dances, and periodic assemblies – all supervised by certified staff.

Our “10th Period” activity programs attract most of our students to stay at MCM from 2:27 to 3:05 p.m. Here students participate in a variety of activities to include modified and intramural sports, clubs, and musical performing groups – along with additional academic support for those requiring remediation.

Lastly, we believe in the following:
