Your Board of Education is composed of nine residents who have been elected by the qualified voters of the Kingston City School District. The Board is vested with the responsibility of setting education policy and carrying out the mandates of the New York State Education Department. The members serve without remuneration.

Academic Goals

Goal 1	To develop a comprehensive communication plan for the district.
	Objectives
	To encourage regular opportunities for the public to communicate with district administrators and board members.
	To encourage a better use of public media, i.e. newspapers, radio, public access TV
	To provide outreach to specific parent and community groups at least on a bi-annual basis

Goal 2	The district will develop strategies to reach out to governmental municipalities and agencies to address matters that impact the district.
	Objectives
	To reach out to all town supervisors, city mayor and planning boards regarding developments and/or programs which have an impact on the district.
	To be supportive of all initiatives to shift the tax burden from property tax to an alternative taxing formula.
	Realignment of polling places

Goal 3	Development of a multi-year budget.
	Objectives
	To expand the role of the finance committee in planning the budget.
	To develop a five-year capital improvement plan – large ticket items (referendum & bonding).
	To update the five-year maintenance and repair plan.
