District Announces 2010 Ulster County Garden Material Grant Program Would your community group like to plant or expand a garden while helping those in need? Providing fresh fruits and vegetables to local soup kitchens and other charitable organizations will be made easier this season, thanks to grant funding from Learn and Serve America, which will enable the expansion of the Community Gardens project in Kingston. The District, in partnership with the City of Kingston Parks and Recreation Department, SUNY Ulster, and the Friends of Forsyth Nature Center, is delighted to announce the 2010 Ulster County Garden Material Grant Program. This initiative will provide much needed garden materials for non-profit community groups in Ulster County who are looking to build gardens at their locations to help those in need, and who plan on involving youth participants in this effort. Applicants can request over 17 different types of gardening materials to assist them in their gardening efforts, from rakes and shovels, bags of soil and mulch, to seeds and rainwater collection barrels.
