Budget Hearing
The Kingston City School District Board of Education held a Public Hearing on the proposed 2009-2010 school district budget at 5:30pm Wednesday, May 6, 2009 in the Cioni Administration Building Board Room at 61 Crown Street in Kingston. A Regular Meeting of the Board followed.
Meet the Candidates May 12
The Districtwide Parents Council is sponsoring a public forum to meet the candidates for the Kingston City School District School District Board of Education Tuesday, May 12, 2009 from 6:30-9:00pm in the Miller Middle School auditorium. The forum will be moderated by the League of Women Voters Of Mid-Ulster County. All residents are invited to meet candidates David M. Fletcher, Herbert A. Lamb, James F. Shaughnessy, Jr., and Christopher J. Farrell.

Board Adopts Budget
TheKingston City School District Board of Education adopted a $140,489,253 budget for the 2009-2010 school year. A Public Hearing was held Wednesday, May 6th and voting on the budget takes place Tuesday, May 19th.

Absentee Ballots
Residents may apply for an absentee ballot at the District Clerk's Office at 61 Crown Street, Kingston. The application must be received by the District Clerk at least seven (7) days prior to the vote if the ballot is to be mailed to the voter or the day before the vote, if the ballot will be picked up by the voter. The completed ballots must be returned to the District Clerk no later than 5 PM on May 19, 2009. Please call 943-3009 for additional information.

Who Can Vote
You must be a registered voter for the general election and reside within the Kingston City Schools Consolidated District. You do not have to be a property owner to vote. In order to vote you must meet the following criteria:

  • Be registered to vote at the County Board of Elections, 284 Wall St., Kingston, and have voted at least once in the last four years.
  • Be at least 18 years of age.
  • Be a citizen eligible to vote in the general election. (Residents who are in jail or on parole for a felony crime are not eligible to vote.)
  • Be a resident of the Kingston City School District for at least 30 consecutive days prior to the vote and not claim the right to vote in any other school budget election.
