Edward R. Crosby Elementary School students were enthusiastic participants in a concert and sing-along showcasing the vocal talents of residents of Ten Broeck Commons, a long-term healthcare facility located in Lake Katrine. The choir sang classic favorites like “New York New York” and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame” to an eager audience of students in Grades K-2, with students joining in for several choruses. At the end of the concert, Crosby students held up a giant “Thank You” sign, and individually presented each of the choir members with a flower.
“The atmosphere of blending young and old was amazing,” enthuses Principal John Voerg. “Many of the Ten Broeck guests, with tears in their eyes, thanked me as they left for being so appreciative of them.”
In the future, Crosby students plan on returning the favor by visiting Ten Broeck Commons and performing for them. “This was a great event that promoted the character values we attempt to instill in everything we do at school,” Principal Voerg says.
